  • Does Roam Sweet Roam – with home data work with Unlimited Canada & U.S. plans?

    Yes. Roaming pay-per-use rates and Roam Sweet Roam – with home data fees (and its reduced speeds after 5 GB per day) will not apply to customers with Canada/US plans when in those countries. Your data usage while roaming will not count towards your maximum speed allotment within Canada, or within the U.S. for customers with plans that include unlimited data in those countries.

    Note: Phones on Prepaid plans will not work in the US and International destinations as roaming is not available for Prepaid.

  • Is Roam Sweet Roam available for international destinations besides the U.S.?

    Roam Sweet Roam has you covered in over 200 destinations, including the U.S. (including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands) and international destinations across Europe, the Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda, Mexico, Central and South America, Asia, South Africa, Oceania and the Middle East.

    See list of International Destinations. If your travel destination is not included in Roam Sweet Roam, you can purchase a travel pass.

    Note: Phones on Prepaid plans will not work in the US and International destinations as roaming is not available for Prepaid.

  • Does Roam Sweet Roam cover roaming charges on cruise ships and in-flight services?

    Roam Sweet Roam does not cover roaming charges on cruise ships and in–flight services.

    If you use your phone on a cruise ship or in-flight service, pay-per-use rates of $4.00/min for calls and $0.99/outgoing text will apply. Data is not available on cruise ships. Members should speak to their cruise line for Wi-Fi access options.

  • How do I switch from Roam Sweet Roam with 500 MB to Roam Sweet Roam with home data?

    To switch to Roam Sweet Roam with home data, text “ROAMHOME” to 6800. You will receive a text message to remove the current option from your account. Reply Y to confirm the removal. You will then receive a text message to add the new option. Simply reply ADD to confirm the addition.

    You can also log into your My Account to make the switch. Once logged in, select the destination you are travelling to. If the destination you selected is covered by Roam Sweet Roam, you will see the Roam Sweet Roam option you currently are enrolled in pre-selected. To switch, simply select the other Roam Sweet Roam option and submit the order.

    Keep in mind that Roam Sweet Roam with home data and Roam Sweet Roam with 500 MB only take effect once you've enrolled; therefore, we recommend switching prior to travelling.

  • Is there a maximum number of daily charges for Roam Sweet Roam within the same billing period?

    Yes, you'll only be charged for a maximum of 20 days per line in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands) and in other international destinations within the same billing period.

    If you have Roam Sweet Roam with home data, you can continue enjoying unlimited talk and text and continue to use the data from your plan at no additional cost for the rest of your billing period. You'll only be charged if you exceed the data included in your rate plan.

  • How will I be charged if I'm enrolled in Roam Sweet Roam while travelling?

    You will only be charged the Roam Sweet Roam daily fee when you make or answer a call, send a text, use Apple Live Voicemail, or when data is sent or received while in your Roam Sweet Roam destination. For any days that you do not use voice, text or data in a Roam Sweet Roam destination, you will not be charged the Roam Sweet Roam daily fee. If you are enrolled in Roam Sweet Roam but do not want to be charged when arriving at your Roam Sweet Roam destination, make sure that data roaming is turned off on your phone, don't make or answer any calls, and don't send any text messages.

  • Does Roam Sweet Roam include unlimited Canada-wide talk and text across my roaming destination?

    Yes. You can make unlimited voice calls and send unlimited text messages within your roaming destination and back to Canada without having to worry about additional charges. Additional charges are only applicable when you are making calls outside of your roaming destination. Calls back to Canada are not subject to additional charges. You can also receive unlimited incoming calls and incoming text messages from anywhere. Roaming in international destinations (outside the U.S., Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands) also includes unlimited outgoing international text messaging.

  • Are there any charges when making calls or sending text messages outside of my Roam Sweet Roam destination and Canada?

    Please refer to the following table for additional charges for outgoing calls and text messages to destinations outside of the roaming destination and Canada.

  • Can I enroll in Roam Sweet Roam if I'm already in a Roam Sweet Roam destination?

    Yes, you can add Roam Sweet Roam with home data by texting “ROAMHOME” to 6800.

    Keep in mind that Roam Sweet Roam with home data will only take effect once you've enrolled; therefore, we recommend enrolling prior to travelling.

  • Do I need to remove Roam Sweet Roam when I return to Canada?

    No. Roam Sweet Roam is for when you’re roaming in a Roam Sweet Roam destination. You won’t be charged for Roam Sweet Roam when you’re not roaming. If you'd still like to remove Roam Sweet Roam, you can remove the feature by texting REMOVEROAM to 6800 or through the Add or remove add-ons section in My Account.

  • How can I unsubscribe from Roam Sweet Roam?

    Once you're enrolled in Roam Sweet Roam, you will be covered for all future trips and will only be charged on days when you use your phone in a Roam Sweet Roam destination. You will not be charged when you are not roaming. To remove Roam Sweet Roam – with home data, simply text REMOVEROAM to 6800 or remove through the Add or remove add-ons section in My Account.

  • Are calls to toll-free numbers included with Roam Sweet Roam?

    Yes. Calls to toll-free numbers are included while in the U.S. and while traveling internationally.

  • How can I enroll in Roam Sweet Roam with home data?

    To get Roam Sweet Roam with home data, simply text “ROAMHOME” to 6800 or login to My Account. Once you enroll, you will automatically enjoy affordable daily rates for each day you call, text or use data with your phone when roaming in any of the Roam Sweet Roam destinations.

  • How are Roam Sweet Roam - with home data Members impacted by reduced data speeds beyond 5 GB?

    Your allowance begins upon your first data use in your Roam Sweet Roam destination and expires at 11:59:59 p.m. Eastern Time on that same day, regardless of the time zone where you’re roaming.

  • If I use up my allotment of data, will I still be able to use data from my rate plan?

    Yes, if you use up your daily 5 GB of daily data, you can continue to use data at reduced speeds of up to 512 Kbps for the remainder of the day as long as you have not exceeded the data included in your rate plan. Data speeds reset at 12:00 a.m. (ET) daily.

    Speed and signal strength may vary due to roaming partner’s network technology, traffic, topography, environmental conditions, network management and other factors.

  • How do I purchase additional data at increased speeds with Roam Sweet Roam - with home data?

    Once you use up your daily 5 GB of data, you will automatically receive a notification that includes the option to purchase an additional 1 GB of increased speed data for $6 in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands) or for $8 in international Roam Sweet Roam destinations. All additional data purchased at increased speeds expires at 11:59 p.m. (ET) on the day the data was purchased.

  • Can I opt out of Roam Sweet Roam text message notifications?

    No. Text message (SMS) notifications are part of the Roam Sweet Roam - with home data service. You will not be charged for these notifications.

  • What is the impact on data speeds?

    Once you have used your daily 5 GB of data, you can continue to use data at reduced speeds of up to 512 Kbps† (suitable for accessing email, light web browsing and messaging) for the remainder of the day as long as you haven’t exceeded the data included in your rate plan. Applications that require higher data speeds (such as video streaming) may be affected by the data speed reduction.

  • What happens if I exceed the data in my rate plan while travelling and want to continue using data?

    The regular data overage charges of your plan will apply.

  • If I use all the data from my plan while travelling and I have Roam Sweet Roam with home data, will I still be able to make calls and send text messages for the rest of the day?

    Yes, you will still be able to make and receive unlimited calls and text messages within your Roam Sweet Roam destination and back to Canada.

  • How do I avoid accidental roaming?

    Sometimes if you are near the US border, your device could automatically connect to a US network as if you are roaming. If this happens, you will receive a Welcome message and any usage will be billed as roaming. To avoid accidental roaming charges when close to the US border, turn off data roaming in your device settings. Alternatively, you can manually select Virgin Plus as your mobile network operator in your device’s network settings.

    Note: If you choose to select Virgin Plus as your mobile network operator manually, remember that you will need to switch back to the automatic network selection setting to ensure your service will work if you ever decide to roam in the US or internationally.

  • Is roaming available for Prepaid accounts?

    Phones on Prepaid plans will not work in the US and International destinations as roaming is not available for Prepaid.
