Valérie is packed with the latest Wi-Fi technology and features like:

Wireless AC Technology

Valérie’s packing the latest Wi-Fi standard (802.11 ac) to get you speeds up to 3 times faster than the previous technology and amazing coverage. But, just 'cuz she's made it big, she still remembers her roots and supports older standards (802.11 a, b, g, n), so that almost all of your Wi-Fi devices can connect to your network.

Dual Band

Valérie can send Wi-Fi signals on both her 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless bands. You can choose to use one or the other, but it's the combo of both bands that'll get you the best results. Here's why:

2.4 GHz for signal strength

The 2.4 GHz frequency is slower than the 5GHz band but has a longer range to get you a super-strong signal throughout your home.

5 GHz for speed

The 5 GHz frequency has a shorter range than the 2.4 GHz band but is faster for a super-speedy connection. Zing!

Setup your Guest Wi-Fi

You can setup a guest network with Valérie. Guests can only access the Internet but don't have access to the other devices on your network and can't change your settings. Learn how

Changing your primary network settings

To access the settings for your primary Wi-Fi network:

1. Open a browser
2. Enter http://VALERIE in the address bar
3. Enter your administrator password. If you haven't changed it, the default password is admin
4. Click Log in
5. Click the Manage My Wi-Fi tile

 

Once you're on the Manage My Wi-Fi page, you can:

Turn on your Wi-Fi network

Set the Primary Wi-Fi Network near the top of the screen to the ON position. Once your primary network is on, you can click the Advanced Settings button to  turn each network band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) ON or OFF. But, for the best results, turn both bands ON.

Change your network name (SSID) and password

The network name (SSID) is used to identify (or name) your network. This is the name you'll see in the list of available Wi-Fi networks. When you've selected the name of your WiFi network, you'll need to enter a password. A default network name and password are on a sticker on Valérie’s back but you can change both whenever you want. Heads Up! Once you change your network name or password, you'll need to reconnect your devices using your new password and network name.

Keep a common network name (SSID) and password for both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands...

Checking this box (recommended), will give the same name (SSID) and password to both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. This lets your devices to choose the best band. If you leave the box unchecked, you'll setup two network names (SSID) and passwords for the two bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and can decide which one to connect to.

Changing your primary Wi-Fi Network's Settings (advanced)

If you haven’t already, click the Advanced Settings button at the bottom of the screen.

• Network name (SSID):
  Displays your network name so your Wi-Fi devices can detect your network. If you uncheck the Broadcast SSID box, you'll need to enter the network name manually on each device you want to connect to your network.
• Security type:
  Choose the encryption type to use. Your devices will need to use the same encryption type to connect to your Wi-Fi network.

  You can set the power level of the antennas used to transmit the Wi-Fi signal. By default, it is set to 100% to ensure the best possible Wi-Fi coverage in your home.

• Interface type:
  Here's where you can select one of the available standards. It's set to Auto by default so that Valérie can choose which Wi-Fi standard is right for the device that is connecting to your network.
• Channel:
  Setting the channel to the Auto lets Valérie automatically choose the best available channel. So if she detects too much interference on one channel, she'll move to another one.

Setting up your guest Wi-Fi network

To turn on your guest Wi-Fi network:

1. Open a browser
2. Enter http://VALERIE in the address bar
3. Enter your administrator password. If you haven't changed it, the default password is admin
4. Click Log in
5. Switch Guest Wi-Fi network ON

Heads Up! If you can't turn on your guest network, try turning on the Primary network first.
Voila! Your guests can now connect to your Wi-Fi using the network name (SSID) and password shown on your home screen.

To edit your guest Wi-Fi network's Settings:

1. From Valérie’s homepage, click the Manage My Wi-Fi tile.
2. On the right side, you can edit these settings.

4. Guest Wi-Fi Network name (SSID) and password
   • The Guest Wi-Fi network name (SSID) is used to identify (or name) your Guest Wi-Fi network. Your guests are connecting with a device, they will see this name in the list of available Wi-Fi networks. Once your network is selected, they will need to enter its password from their device.
5. You can also edit these advanced settings, by clicking the Advanced Settings button at the bottom of your screen. Once on this page, look at the Guest Wi-Fi network section underline-links-paragraph-container accss-focus-outline-override-bgwhite-elem on the far right of your screen.
   • Broadcast SSID
     Displays your Guest network name (SSID) so Wi-Fi devices can detect your network. If you turn it off, your guests will need to enter the Guest network name manually on each device that wants to connect to your Guest Wi-Fi network.
   • Security type
     Choose the encryption type to use. Devices will need to use the same encryption type to connect to your Guest Wi-Fi network.
