All About Wi-Fi with Steve
Key features of your Wi-Fi network
Steve's more than just a pretty face. He's got the brains and brawn modem packed with the latest Wi-Fi technology and features like:
Wireless AC Technology
Steve's packing the latest Wi-Fi standard (802.11 ac) to get you speeds up to 3 times faster than the previous technology and amazing coverage. But, just 'cuz he's made it big, he still remembers his roots and supports older standards (802.11 a, b, g, n), so that almost all of your Wi-Fi devices can connect to your network.
Dual Band
Steve can send Wi-Fi signals on both the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz wireless bands. You can choose to use one or the other, but it's the combo of both bands that'll get you the best results. Here's why:
2.4 GHz for signal strength
The 2.4 GHz frequency is slower than the 5GHz band but has a longer range to get you a super-strong signal throughout your home.
5 GHz for speed
The 5 GHz frequency has a shorter range than the 2.4 GHz band but is faster for a super-speedy connection. Zing!
Setup your Guest Wi-Fi
You can setup a guest network with Steve. Guests can only access the Internet but don't have access to the other devices on your network and can't change your settings. Learn howChanging your primary network settings

When you've selected the name of your WiFi network, you'll need to enter a password. A default network name and password are on a sticker on Steve's back but you can change both whenever you want.
Heads Up! Once you change your network name or password, you'll need to reconnect your devices using your new password and network name.
Keep a common network name (SSID) and password for both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands...
Checking this box (recommended), will give the same name (SSID) and password to both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. This lets your devices to choose the best band. If you leave the box unchecked, you'll setup two network names (SSID) and passwords for the two bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and can decide which one to connect to.

Setting the channel to the Auto lets Steve automatically choose the best available channel. So if he detects too much interference on one channel, he'll move to another one. - Channel bandwidth
If left in Auto, Steve will be able to use larger channel bandwidth based on your Wi-Fi environment, which may increase speeds for some devices. - WMM
Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM) prioritizes traffic according to four access categories: voice, video, best effort and background. It is enabled by default.
