Yonge-Dundas Square 2014: Virgin Mobile presents INDIE FRIDAYS

TORONTO (ONTARIO) June 2, 2014

Discover a wide-range of indie artists at YONGE-DUNDAS SQUARE (YDS) this summer during Virgin Mobile presents INDIE FRIDAYS! Every Friday night from 8-10pm, an eclectic mix of musicians and bands from across the world will be performing at YDS.

Bringing the energy to Toronto for the first session of Virgin Mobile presents INDIE FRIDAYS, on July 4 is Australia’s Melbourne Ska Orchestra. After more than a decade of sold-out shows and electrifying festival appearances, they are bringing their vigour to YDS for audiences to experience.

On July 11, taking the stage will be Sherman Downey & The Ambiguous Case who have been wowing critics and fans since their 2010 debut release Honey for Bees with a melodic roots-rock sound, which embraces folk, pop, and country.

On July 18, eight-piece rock n’ roll cover band, Dwayne Gretzky, made up of members of Sweet Thing, Al x, Our Lady Peace, Sheezer, Dustin Bentall & the Smokes, and July Talk, will make their triumphant return to Virgin Mobile presents INDIE FRIDAYS, all while ripping the best songs ever written.

On July 25, fiercely independent road warriors, Wild Child, will add Toronto’s YDS to their growing list of stages, which already includes Austin City Limits Music Festival, Wakarusa, Firefly Music Festival, Bonnaroo, Virgin Mobile presents Osheaga, and Savannah Stopover, that have helped the band step into the spotlight.

On August 1, hailing from Toronto, KC Roberts & The Live Revolution, will feel right at home on the YDS stage. Known for their energized stage performances they were quickly recognized by the Toronto Independent Music Awards in 2007 as Best Live Act.

The Beer Garden, provided by the Hard Rock Cafe will be open for every Virgin Mobile presents INDIE FRIDAYS from 4pm-11pm. And for those on the search for some respite from the hectic pace of life, YDS also transforms into a quiet oasis on scheduled fountain days.
